Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a modern day cognitive-behavioral approach aiming to reduce suffering and improve qualify of living. ACT is an innovative blending of proven behavior therapy practices with effective mindfulness applications. This two-day ACT workshop focuses on giving professionals highly practical skills and case conceptualization techniques, and leverages the most recent research in the behavioral sciences. In addition, the workshop will be experiential and personally-directed, so attendees can learn first-hand how mindfulness, values-clarification, and commitment training can strengthen their skills and their lives.

In this workshop, attendees will:

  • Understand the 6 points of the ACT Hexaflex model: values work, mindfulness, acceptance, defusion, perspective-taking, and committed action
  • Develop an intensely practical understanding of the purpose of meditation
  • Discover an evidence-based case conceptualization approach
  • Incorporate ACT Treatment Techniques for: anxiety issues, teen shyness, agoraphobia with panic attack, OCD, hoarding, social phobia, PTSD, mood disorders, substance abuse, anger management training, survivors of childhood sexual trauma, and personality disorders
  • Integrate ACT methods with other effective therapies
  • Acquire several ACT assessment tools, case conceptualization sheets, and audio downloads

8-Hour Supervisor Training: Components of Effective, Evidence-Based Behavior Analytic Supervision

This training will provide instruction that will contribute to the knowledge and skills needed for the effective supervision of individuals who are pursuing BACB certification. Based on the BACB’s current standards for supervision, as of January 1st, 2015, professionals who supervise individuals pursuing BCBA or BCaBA credentialing must complete 8 hours of specialized training that addresses the provision of effective supervision prior to supervising any BACB candidates. Through this training, participants will have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate understanding of: the purpose of supervision; important features of supervision, including a review of the BACB standards; the format and relevance of behavioral skills training; the proper way to deliver performance feedback; approaches for evaluating the effects of supervision; and methods of ongoing professional development for the supervisee. The 8-hour Supervisor Training fulfills the requirement necessary to administer the BACB’s RBT Competency Assessment for those seeking credentialing as a Registered Behavior Technician.This training program is based on the BACB Supervisor Training Curriculum Outline but is offered independent of the BACB.
