Professional Bio

Dr. Layla Sump is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but resides in the United States for over 20 years. She completed her undergraduate and master's degrees in Psychology at Jacksonville State University, her Ph.D. in Special Education at Texas Tech University, and her postdoctoral training at Trumpet Behavioral Health. Dr. Sump held positions such as Clinical Director, Director of Training and Director of Clinical Services at Trumpet Behavioral Health, and Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University. She is the co-founder of DAXTA, where she provides consultation and training for clinical leaders and behavior analysts, with a major focus in disseminating best practices and elevating care for individuals with developmental disabilities in Brazil. Dr. Sump is also the host of the podcast Tudo ABA (in Brazilian Portuguese), which focuses on disseminating applied behavior analysis for Portuguese Speaking professionals and others interested in ABA. Dr. Sump has presented her research at national and international conferences, and she has several peer-reviewed scientific publications.
