Abstract
Join lead author Miguel Ampuero for a discussion of research comparing behavioral skills training (BST) with a brief performance feedback intervention for paraeducators supporting students with autism. The study found that both approaches produced similar improvements in paraeducators’ implementation of errorless teaching procedures, while brief performance feedback required less training time. Together, we will examine the study’s findings, limitations, and practical implications for developing effective, efficient, and sustainable paraeducator training in school settings.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this Journal Club, participants will be able to:
- Describe the components of behavioral skills training and brief performance feedback.
- Compare the effectiveness and efficiency of the two paraeducator training approaches evaluated in the study.
- Identify considerations for applying brief, performance-based training within school settings.
APBA Journal Clubs are designed to foster thoughtful discussion, critical analysis, and professional dialogue around contemporary research shaping the field.
