APBA DEI Webinar with Christie Stiehl

ABSTRACT: This presentation is a call to action. As the current political administration strengthens the onslaught of queer and transphobic legislation and ideology, we need to show up for our staff and clients who hold a sexual or gender minority (SGM) identity now more than ever. Over 13 million people in the US identify with at least one sexual or gender minority (e.g., LGBTQIA2S+, trans, nonbinary, queer, bisexual, two-spirit). Over 13 million people are told daily that their lives are less valuable and their rights less important. To begin the conversation about safety and inclusivity for staff and clients, ABA practitioners must have a foundational knowledge of gender identity and sexual orientation. This presentation aims to provide this initial foundation by reviewing critical concepts and considerations related to SGM staff and clients. The speaker will then facilitate a discussion with attendees about inclusive practices that can be employed by their specific organizations across system levels and relationships. Please join us.
