KU Updates Online RBT Preparation Course to Meet New 2026 Standards
(Oct. 20, 2025) LAWRENCE, Kan. - The University of Kansas (KU) is updating its online Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) preparation course to meet the new 2026 standards outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s (BCBA) third edition of the RBT Test content. The update is the latest effort to make KU’s storied Department of Applied Behavior Sciences more accessible and meet the industry’s growing demand for RBT’s.
Dr. Pam Neidert, associate professor at KU, speaks to the school’s rich history in the field: “The department has a very, very strong reputation in the field. In fact, back in 1968, it became the first home to the field’s flagship journal, the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis.”
That deep expertise continues today, as the RBT course was designed and is overseen by current KU faculty in the same nationally respected department. “Our instructors are among the strongest researchers and practitioners in the field,” Neidert explains. “That level of involvement offers a unique experience to every participant.”
Students who complete the course not only gain knowledge, they gain confidence. The 93% first-time pass rate reflects not just student dedication, but the exceptional support and preparation KU provides.
“I found out very quickly, so many doors are open for me in terms of career opportunities. I could really go anywhere, and it's just so incredibly rewarding, so unique and special to each individual client,” Sam, a current student in the Applied Behavior Sciences Department, shared.
Whether you're just starting out or exploring your next step, KU’s online RBT course opens doors to meaningful work, in-demand skills, and a future with purpose.
