APBA 2025 Annual Convention Shines in Dallas and Online

The Association of Professional Behavior Analysts (APBA) proudly hosted its 15th Annual Convention—APBA 2025: Shine—in Dallas, Texas and virtually, bringing together over 1,000 ABA professionals from across the globe. This year’s hybrid format allowed for broader participation and a rich exchange of ideas, experiences, and innovations in behavior analysis.

A Celebration of Learning, Community, and Impact

Under the theme “Shine”, this year’s event spotlighted the power of research, the strength of community, and the importance of honoring individuals who have made a lasting impact in the field. With expanded networking events, engagement activities, and a diverse slate of presentations, APBA 2025 provided meaningful learning opportunities and connections for practitioners at every level.

Honoring Legacy and Advancing Access

A special highlight of the convention was the inaugural Dr. Elizabeth Hughes Fong Memorial Lecture, delivered by invited speaker Dr. Robyn Catagnus. This lecture, established to honor the legacy of Dr. Hughes Fong’s work and advocacy, is freely available to the public—reflecting APBA’s commitment to accessibility and the dissemination of knowledge. [Watch it here.]

In addition, attendees and the broader ABA community can now purchase on-demand presentations from APBA 2025 individually. These sessions are available until August 28, 2025.

Puppy Party: Smiles, Snuggles, and Support

Another heartwarming addition to this year’s convention was the Puppy Party, featuring adoptable puppies from Saving Hope Rescue. Attendees were invited to unwind, connect, and cuddle with furry friends—all while supporting a meaningful cause. Thanks to everyone who participated, we were able to raise funds to benefit animal rescue efforts. Your snuggles made a difference in the loves of those adorable puppies (and their snuggles probably helped brighten your day too)!

Volunteers with Heart

We cannot reflect on APBA 2025 without acknowledging the incredible team of volunteers who brought this event to life. From our Board of Directors and Advisory Board to the many friends, colleagues, and community members who lent their time and talents—your support was essential. Whether helping behind the scenes or guiding attendees throughout the venue, your generosity and spirit helped make APBA Shine a true success. Thank you!

By the Numbers: What Attendees Said

Feedback from our post-convention survey paints a clear picture of a successful and well-received event:

  • 94% of respondents reported being satisfied to very satisfied with their overall experience at APBA Shine.

  • 92% rated the quality of presentations 4 or higher out of 5.

  • 92% gave networking opportunities a score of 4 or greater.

  • 98% of respondents reported they felt safe at the convention.

Areas y’all identified for improvement included room size for talks and events and a continued effort to increase the number of data-based presentations. We hear you! We will continue to proactively work on our event spaces and encourage the submission of data-based presentations when our call for papers opens soon. When asked to describe their experience, attendees shared thoughtful praise, describing the event as “energizing,” “inclusive,” “fulfilling,” and “10 out 10.”

We hope you can join us in 2026 for our annual convention in New Orleans March 12-14, 2026!
