ACE Provider updates lead to more advanced systems for APBA
On July 1, 2026, the revised ACE Provider Handbook went into effect. While many of the updates provide additional clarification rather than entirely new requirements, APBA has reviewied and strengthened our systems and processes to manage ACE events.
Here are a few changes we have implemented that have made ACE Provider compliance more manageable:
Strengthened instructor qualification review
All ACE Instructors are now required to complete an internal form outlining their qualifications and expertise related to the topic they will be presenting. This form serves as a starting point for the review process but does not replace the ACE Coordinator's responsibility to independently verify that each instructor meets the ACE Instructor requirements. We also require presenters to submit their presentation slides to the ACE Coordinator in advance to support the review process and ensure compliance with ACE requirements.
Review of all co-presenters
When a presentation includes co-presenters, each presenter must complete the same qualifications and expertise form. Every presenter who will deliver CE content is reviewed individually by the ACE Coordinator to ensure they meet the ACE Provider Handbook requirements.
Expanding non-CE programming opportunities
One of the biggest shifts we are making is intentionally incorporating more non-CE programming into our events. Not every valuable voice will meet the ACE Instructor qualifications for a specific CE topic, but that does not diminish the importance of their perspective. We want to continue creating space for innovative ideas, lived experiences, and emerging voices that move the field forward. At the 2027 APBA Annual Convention, our new Amplified Voices submissions will be reviewed alongside CE submissions and provide an opportunity for presenters to share important content outside of the ACE framework.
Making feedback easier to provide
As behavior analysts, we recognize that meaningful feedback is essential for continuous improvement. We have made it easier for attendees to share concerns or feedback about CE events by providing a direct, low-effort reporting option. The APBA ACE Event Concern Form is linked on every presentation registration page, throughout our event webpages, and in the ACE Coordinator's email signature. This ensures attendees always have a clear, accessible way to communicate concerns related to ACE events.
As you map out your own processes for BACB® CE events, whether as an organization or an individual ACE Provider, we encourage you to develop systems that make documentation, review, and compliance as seamless as possible. Investing time upfront to build consistent workflows can reduce administrative burden, improve event quality, and make it easier to meet the ACE Provider requirements with confidence.
